[ mood | grateful ]

I know someone has already posted a post like this, and as much as I hate to be redundant, I am afraid if I put it in the comments of the other post, it might get missed.

I really wanted to say a great big Thank You to the plays here at S_U . I started reading pretty close to the beginning, late 2003. I liked so many of the characters, they had such great personalities. I have never really gotten involved in HP fandom, S_U is the first RPG I ever followed. I liked the style of the game, that there are journals and logs. The characters had such great personalities, (and Harry's old Tom Welling icons were so pretty to look at). There was a good balance of humor and drama, of 'shiping and actual plot. I had Ron's f-list on my "links" toolbar so I could easily click it each day when I got home from work. I moved it off of there today, and it was a little sad.

I wish I could come up with the right way to express how much I enjoyed following the game w/o sounding like a complete dork. I loved Pansy for speaking her mind. I loved Ron and Hermione for being so sweet together. And the way all of the Weasleys interacted. I loved Draco, even whiny potion taking Draco (and I think I was the only one ;o)) I loved Zach and Justin's friendship, so well played out. I loved the way Tony said "fuck" every other word. I loved Blaise for hating pink. I loved Terry Boot charging people for using his phrase. I loved Snape for being so v. Snape like but also being able to care for someone. I loved Dorian and Nat and Ellie and Seamus and Remus and Bill and Sirius and Harry and AU James and AU Ginny and AU Draco all of the other characters I didn't mention. I could go on, but I'd be here all night.

And as corny as this sounds, there will be a lasting impact on me from this game. I'm not very involved in HP fandom. Or, you know, involved at all, but though this game, I've added a number of people to my f-list. I enjoy reading their posts and hope they enjoy reading mine.

So again, thank you to all of the people involved in this game. Y'all are fantastic. :D

nostalgia extravaganza [30 May 2005|10:36am]

[ mood | nostalgic ]

So this is it. I'm feeling all angsty and nostalgic now.

While I was sort of waiting for a more dramatic finale, my greatest weakness is a penchant for nostalgia, so I certainly won't complain (although there were a number of other characters I'd have liked to see final posts for). Pansy's private post was just wonderful--I loved her requirements for her new place to live, how it starts out simply, and develops into a place where she can store her experiences at hogwarts, keep and contain memories of the people who have changed, influenced, meant something to her. I love all the small details that take us back to some of the great exchanges we've seen(read) between characters: the "crocuses," Zustin and Jach, Blaise's raspberry robes. It's really a place where no one has to grow up, a self-contained memory of childhood. I love it. I must stop with my continuing melodrama--go read it, anyone who hasn't.

I want to thank all the SU players--you are wonderful writers, plot drivers, character developers, world creators--I've spent much needed study/work time reading SU, but it was the most engaging and fulfilling procrastination tool ever! I don't know how anything else could possibly fill the void.

So.

I notice that we've heard from the Minstry and the Order, and from Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw.

We haven't heard a word from Draco or Pansy or any Slytherin except Snape.

Something isn't right. That was too... sudden. I bet he's not gone. Or... maybe that isn't really Harry. o_O Or maybe it is and it was sudden on purpose so we would wonder. This is good stuff :)

I haven't said it in awhile, but it needs to be repeated. All of the players here are awesome. <3

Damn. I miss a couple of days and all hell breaks loose.

I want to commend everyone who participated in this thread in particular. Well, you know how much I love you all, anyway, but you REALLY brought back the magic (er, so to speak) for this thread. Loved, loved LOVED the dynamics, along with the well-paced sense of urgency. Also loved that S/S are out to Harry (albeit unplanned), and that he's ok.

I also enjoyed the follow-up here, and Harry's Owl to Tony. Again, good show by everyone as to how they're reacting and what's going on.

And finally, TONKS! Bill, you especially know how I feel about the implications there. *beams*

I look forward to seeing things play out - especially since there's still 3 months left in the school term.

About a year ago I had given so much thought to the Pureblood v. Muggleborn v. Muggle debate that I put it all into words and opened it up to my classmates for... debate.

I actually Memoried that post when you wrote that - it remains one of my all-time favourite RPG posts. Justin's opening post was magnificently put together, and everyone's participation (I miss those days!) was spot-on. Thanks for the excuse to go back and re-read through it. (And OMG the fever! I'd almost forgotten about that plotline!)

Everyone's so quiet...

where is everybody...

I dunno if everyone's missing Valentine's Day and (gasp!) RON'S BIRTHDAY because of revising season, or what... Is it just lack of player interaction, or is there something worse in the works?

Like, everything has gone quiet, and yet there's this Muggle attack, and the war is building up, and yet... THE SILENCE IS HURTINGGGG MY BRAINNNNN

poor Uncle Severus! [30 Mar 2005|01:22am]
amoeba_j
[ mood | pensive ]

As soon as I read Remus post that "It's a lovely day out", I just knew something big was about to happen. Add to it the "becoming parents" chat with Bill, and I feared for both Remus's and Bill's lives at that point :(

I didn't really think about Severus's sister being the victim -- I thought she would be away from home at her in-laws' if Severus was keeping his niece...unless they both foresaw danger and felt she'd be best protected at Hogwarts. I had so wanted to see Severus around his sister, even if only by Owl correspondence. Now he will most likely become probable legal guardian (is there a British term for this?) of Ophidia. Will the earth tilt off of its axis? ;D

I can't remember Severus blowing his cover...would someone please point me in the right direction if it's from a past post?

Chicken pox? Poor Severus.

I had chicken pox when I was in my thirties. I was thisclose to being hospitalized, it took me a week to get over the disease itself and several more to get any stamina back. Not to mention a couple of scars.

One hopes that Wizarding medicine can do a better job with viruses and their after-effects.

Ernie's mentioning Valentine's Day in his entry, but isn't the SU world 1 month behind and still in January? I'm not trying to be nit-picky or anything, just making sure I have the right idea of the time frame :).
